"I started working for AMPC in 2008. Previously I was employed by
various companies involved in the development, production and sale of medical
equipment and/or software. At one stage, for instance, I was responsible for
marketing oncological radiation equipment in the African and Asian markets. In
the US and Europe I was involved in the market introduction of revolutionary
technologies that made immediate digital visualisation and distribution of X-rays
possible. As a result, I not only developed an extensive worldwide network, but
also gained substantial know-how about medical equipment, (workflow) processes
in hospitals and the medical world in general. That network and this expertise
are now proving to be very useful in my work at AMPC.
A structural approach to projects, that is what AMPC stands for. Every
day I notice that scientific thinking helps to solve problems. At AMPC we have
the scientific background that allows us to do that. It helps us to thoroughly
analyse a situation and then use these insights to the fullest.
Structurally improving healthcare in a country is challenging, but this
does not mean that I am an idealist. I am especially interested in the
commercial side of our projects: discovering new opportunities and
possibilities, strategically using the market information that you have gained in
a country, developing new distribution networks and developing our own strategy
based on what we see around us. My access to a large worldwide network facilitates
and enhances the opportunities that come to us. At the same time we are of
course dealing with different people and cultures. A fascinating combination.
Marketing facilities, creating a certain awareness, is something I also
find interesting. You are confronted with cultural differences; in another country
things do not necessarily work the same way as they do at home. For instance, people
with health problems tend to ask their families for help rather than a family
doctor. So you could start a clinic somewhere offering expensive methods for
treating cancer and inform family doctors about this, but if the family doesn’t
know that the clinic exists, then patients still cannot use that equipment. At
AMPC we also take these kinds of aspects into account, which ensures the
success of our projects.
What also makes us unique in our sector is the fact that we are truly
independent. We sell advice, not equipment. This means that we have more
control over what we do and how we operate. We have our projects evaluated
extensively for good reason.”
